indieBRAG has put together a great group of book bloggers to interview our B.R.A.G. Medallion Honorees. This week we would like our authors to get to know our team a bit better. Today indieBRAG Team Member Magdalena of A Bookaholic Swede is chatting with us about her website.
Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to read books. And, through my blogging have I found friends all over the world that just like me likes to read and blog about books.
How many books a year do you read?
389! LOL, well that’s according to Goodreads for 2015. But that also includes short stories and graphic novels. I do try to read at least 3-4 books a week, mostly because I have a lot of books to read and I keep getting/buying more.
What is your favorite genres?
Thriller, horror, mystery, historical, paranormal, crime, fantasy, and science-fiction. Basically everything except romance. Not that I’m totally against romance. I’m just very picky.
Where are the different places you read?
Either on sofas (home or my mom’s place) or my bed. Of course, I always have books with me (my trusty iPad)!
What thrills you the most about reading?
What thrills me most is that every new book I start is a new experience. I don’t know if I will like the book or not, of the story will thrill me or not. Will this be a new favorite book? Every unread book is a new adventure just waiting for me.
Name your favorite childhood book.
Agnes Cecilia by Maria Gripe. I do have a lot of favorite books from when I was a child/teen. But this one I can still read and feel just as same as when I read it when I was younger.
What is the first thing you consider when buying a book?
Cover! Seriously, if the cover isn’t good then I will probably just ignore the book unless someone tips me about the book.
What is the most important aspect of that story?
I think the beginning. It has to be good that the reader right from the start is pulled into the story. If the beginning is dull then most readers will stop reading and pick another book. I mean I don’t want to read a book where it will take me 100-150 pages to be intrigued by the story. The most likely reason for me to DNF a book is that the book failed to interest me from the beginning. I have so many books to read that I prefer not to waste time reading a book that I have to force myself to through just to see if it will get better!
Thank you, Magdalena!
