Synopsis

The Women’s Land Army takes over the Widdlington Allotments for a training school. This stirs up trouble in the village, not least for the children. But how did the diocesan bishop get involved, and even the Prime Minister?

There’s a midnight act of wartime sabotage, and ghastly confrontation at night in an unlit church. The village derelict is arrested, but is he the real culprit?
