TIME CONJURER

Michael Arthur Kennedy
Kenny Lawson is a clairvoyant black psychiatrist in 2019 Philadelphia who learns that one vision he has had since childhood is of a Great-Aunt (Delilah Ashford) who disappeared in 1955. No one believes Delilah lived past 1955 until an evil woman (Gretchen Greeley) time travels from 1955 to 2019 hunting for her. Gretchen’s appearance gives hope that Delilah may still be alive, but it also invokes fear. Gretchen, an unwavering Jim Crow advocate, has learned to time travel!
Kenny’s grandmother, Nana, is also Delilah’s sister. She used Delilah’s Hoodoo to develop a time travel method in 2019 called “flying.” This allowed anyone to travel to any time and place depicted in a photograph. She desperately wishes she could see her sister after 64 years, but Delilah had taken no photographs.
The last time Nana had seen Delilah, Gretchen was attacking her for putting “roots” on the Greeley matriarch. What Nana didn’t know was that later in this confrontation, her sister had accidentally “flown” into a photograph and had become trapped in a world behind it. Since that day in 1955, Delilah remained trapped in a labyrinth behind all photographs ever taken. Nana, only 18 at the time, feared the Greeleys would punish her for Delilah’s spell, and fled Charleston for Philadelphia.
Gretchen’s visit now surpassed Nana’s worst fears. Gretchen could time travel! But, how? She never practiced Hoodoo. The only way to find Delilah and stop Gretchen is for Nana and Kenny to travel back to 1955 Charleston.
