About Yancy Caruthers


Yancy Caruthers served 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, while simultaneously advancing his civilian career as a Registered Nurse.  After working in the intensive care and emergency/trauma fields, he flew with Air Evac Lifeteam as part of the medical crew.  The Army called upon him three times to serve – once to Ft. Riley, KS as a battalion operations officer, and twice to Iraq.  Following his military career, he continued to serve his country as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State in assignments to Lima, Peru and Nassau, The Bahamas.  He has experience in immigration law as well as political and economic reporting and consulting.  He has written for Yahoo! News and has appeared inSoldier of Fortune magazine.
Northwest of Eden, His memoir of his experience as the second-in-command of an Army Emergency Department during the Iraq War, is the recipient of a B.R.A.G. Medallion.  In October 2016, he expects to release Medic! a collection of stories about real Army medics from WW2 to Afghanistan.
