About Mary Adler

I’m Mary Adler, now simply, but not merely, a writer. I escaped my former life as an attorney and dean at CWRU School of Medicine for the much gentler world of World War II and the adventures of homicide detective Oliver Wright and his German shepherd, Harley.

Northern California is home. Our garden habitat provides food, water, and shelter to birds and bees and butterflies, and depending on your point of view, other less desirable creatures. (Unintended consequences at work again.)

In addition to my family––which includes our dogs––I love crows and compassion, writing and writers, and of course, readers and reading. I also love all things Italian, especially Andrea Camilleri’s Commissario Montalbano and cannoli––not necessarily in that order.

Join me in starting each day with the question poet Mary Oliver poses:
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
