About Kevin McGuire
Dr. Kevin McGuire is an award-winning author and cybersecurity executive with more than three decades of experience protecting critical infrastructure and information systems. His career has included senior leadership positions in both government and industry, including serving as CIO of the U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, and cybersecurity leadership roles supporting federal and defense organizations. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of SysNet Technologies, where his work focuses on cybersecurity, information assurance, operational technology, and critical infrastructure protection.
McGuire also serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Fairfax, an institution specializing in cybersecurity and technology education.
His debut novel, Sleeper Code, draws on his real-world cybersecurity experience to explore the increasingly fragile intersection of artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, critical infrastructure, and human decision-making. The novel received the Gold Award at the 2026 Manhattan Book Awards.
Through his fiction, McGuire translates complex technological threats into fast-paced stories accessible to readers without a technical background while keeping the scenarios grounded in the realities of modern cybersecurity.
He lives with his wife, Traci, and their family. Sleeper Code is the first novel in the Sleeper Code Trilogy.
