About Katlynn Brooke

Katlynn Brooke is an author of the young-adult fantasy fiction The Ialana Series and now the author of her childhood memoirs, “Tea, Scones, and Malaria.” She is currently working on the sequel to her memoir, “Mimosas, Samosas, and Malaria.”

Born in Zimbabwe, she grew up in the bushveld, running wild and free with the backdrop of a quickly disappearing world. Her fantasy books have drawn inspiration from her family’s gypsy-like wanderings and pioneer spirit. She still feels a strong connection to the continent where she was raised and, through her memoir, wants the world to learn more about her country of origin.

Brooke’s wanderings did not stop with her childhood. As an adult, she emigrated to the U.S. with her first husband who was a State Department employee. After living in the U.S. for a few years, the State Department sent them on overseas postings, spending several years in India and Indonesia. Brooke enjoyed the travel and adventurous lifestyle and visited many other countries while enroute to their postings.

Brooke now lives in Warrenton, Virginia with her husband and a cat. She enjoys life as a full-time writer and part-time artist.
