The series follows a small county Sheriff’s Department in Castaway County , Maine. Each book in the series has a major crime that Dell Hinton and his staff will try to solve and there are other issues that pop up along the way that a rural sheriff would have to address. The stories are both interesting and insightful for those seeking a better knowledge of the duties of a Sheriff, especially those that differ from the duties of a Police Chief.
The setting is a fictitious county in rural Maine near a lake. Dell Hinton loves on the lake, so there is also information about life around a lake. In fact, future books in the series are expected to provide some accurate history of lake life in the early to mid 1900’s.
