Synopsis

The numerous powerful enemies of mixed-race Helen Andros, newly reconciled to her father, Lord James Mordecai, strike back. Some nearly murder Lord James and Helen in multiple separate attacks. Others ultimately compel the Duke of Alta to send his beloved firstborn into exile after the birth of her younger brother, his heir.

Meanwhile Maguari, the otherworldly Mist-Weaver, starts teaching Helen the energy perception and manipulation skills that she needs to stay alive and protect herself and her loved ones from dreaded priest assassins.
