About Cindy Horrell Ramsey

Cindy Horrell Ramsey has always lived in North Carolina. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a nationally recognized program taught by award-winning writers and producing numerous award winners as well.

She has been a speaker for the North Carolina Humanities Council Road Scholars Speakers Bureau making presentations across the state and also frequently speaking at libraries, historical societies, and book clubs. She has made local and regional television and radio appearances, once being featured on UNCTV BookWatch on PBS for her nonfiction book, BOYS OF THE BATTLESHIP NORTH CAROLINA (John F. Blair, Publisher 2007), which is still enjoying good sales seventeen years since publication and is required reading for anyone wishing to volunteer as a tour guide or member of the living history crew for the Battleship North Carolina Memorial in Wilmington, NC. https://www.pbs.org/video/nc-bookwatch-cindy-horrell-ramsey-boys-battleship-north-carolina/

Following an eclectic professional career from dental assisting to paralegal to owning her own wallpaper hanging business while raising a family before earning her degrees, Ramsey was publisher/writer/editor for a community newspaper, effectively honing her writing and editing skills which serves her well for independent publishing. Now retired from years as an administrator in the North Carolina Community College system, Ramsey is focused on dedicating more time to her writing.

Having grown up in rural North Carolina and now living on a barrier island, nature is an important element of Ramsey’s writing regardless of the main focus of the narrative. But most importantly, while she writes to entertain, she also writes to make a difference. Strong women are a focus of much of her writing.

In fiction and nonfiction, Ramsey writes about things that matter.
