Synopsis

Benedict can’t seem to get it right. He wants to be a scribe, but doesn’t have the money for an apprenticeship. He joins the city guard, but is grievously wounded in his first battle. Then he falls in love with a woman he cannot have. Finally, his luck changes, and none other than Baron Roland de Cornu, the most powerful member of the city council, enlists Benedict as his personal spy. That’s when his troubles really begin.
