Lisa Ard

Award-winning Middle Grade Author

About Lisa Ard

I was Inspired to write children’s books after reading to my own young children. They devoured Magic Tree House, Geronimo Stilten, and other early reader series. Like these well-known series, my Dream Seeker stories offer kids short, easy books with familiar characters and lots of action and adventure. My next book, Saving Halloween, is geared for the older middle grade reader and was inspired by my favorite author Roald Dahl’s Matilda — with a twist. I like to tell people it’s Matilda meets The Munsters.

My kids are now 15 and 13 and I drive them around more than I read to them. Yet I still pick up middle grade and young adult books to read myself, in addition to plenty of adult fiction and non-fiction. Let’s just say I’m an avid reader and find enjoyment in an eclectic mix of stories. I share that love of reading as a SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) reading program volunteer and as a book club leader for the elderly.

Aside from writing and reading, I lead a charmed life in Portland, Oregon with my husband, two kids, a hamster and a fish.
