Synopsis

King Henry has succeeded in suppressing the new Parliament. But the common people of England have come to believe that a new age has begun, a thousand year Era of the Sanctus Spiritus in which kingship and the Church will dissolve and a single world order will arise, led by the elected representatives of the common people. It is believed by many that Simon de Montfort, who gave them their Parliament, is the Angel of the Apocalypse. Simon, intent upon returning to the Holy Land, is lured back from France to see the army gathering to reinstate the Parliament. He agrees to be their leader.
